I had a 10:30 a.m. appointment with Dr. Eileen Gibbons on 9/15/11 for a 15 minute procedure. A lot of deep thought, religious guilt, and general emotions go into making this choice and I was very anxious on this day. I waited for hours in the waiting room with no explanation or update from the staff. As required, I had eaten nothing since 9:30 a.m. After 3 hours and 15 minutes I was brought in for my consultation. I was subsequently taken to an operating room and given a shot of Demerol which caused me to vomit twice. At 2:45 p.m., 4 hours and 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, Dr. Eileen Gibbons entered the operating room and, without even acknowledging me, unapologetically began a diatribe about busy her day has been. She included some private information about other patients at which point I interjected and told her that I did not want that information disclosed to me and I was simply concerned about my own procedure. Dr. Eileen Gibbons then left the room. Naked from the waist down, wrapped only in a sheet, my legs numb from Demerol, I got off the table to get her so that I didnít have to wait longer. She came back into the operating room and said that she would not perform the procedure on me, that my procedure was not as important as her earlier patients, that I was a bitch, and demanded that I get out before she called security. I burst into tears and tried to get away from her into the safety of a bathroom across the hall where I could lock the door, get dressed, and leave. While in the hallway, visible to her staff and other patients, Dr. Eileen Gibbons proceeded to yell at me that I was stealing her sheet and she was going to call the police. Then she pushed me, grabbed me, blocked me, and pulled at the sheet to expose me. I have filed this assault with the Seattle Police Department. Needless to say, I could not get out of Dr. Eileen Gibbons office fast enough. She did not do my procedure nor would I ever let her touch my body again. Based on my experience, she has the potential to completely explode and, if I were anyone else looking for a doctor to perform this very stressful and emotional surgery, I would look elsewhere. Do not risk this huge event in your life with someone so abusive and hostile who is so uncompassionate and out of touch with her patients.
